The Ministry of Information refused to register “Mahilouski Chas” newspaper.

As website “European Belarus” reports, documents for registration were filed on September 10. Editor-in-chief Hanna Illina rang the ministry and was told that the newspaper hadn’t been registered and the notice about this had been sent a week ago.

To a question about the reasons for the refusal, officer of the Ministry of Information Viktar Huretski said: “How can a person without higher education publish a newspaper. It’s impossible...”

The reason, for which the newspaper was refused registration, is not on the list of the grounds for refusal mentioned in the Law on Mass Media, but it’s difficult to say what was a formal reason for the refusal before a written answer is received.

According to Illina, she will apply for registration again.
