Uladzimir Katsora, the leader of Homel opposition, has addressed regional prosecutor’s office upon detention of opposition activists in Homel on September 16.

Uladzimir Katsora demands to initiate a criminal action against policemen who were bearing false witness in reports on his detention. As noted by “Radio Svaboda”, basing upon false reports against Katsora and a number of other Homel public activists an administrative case was initiated. Seven of them were fined 20-40 basic units.

The politician has also sent an application to the chairman of Chyhunachny court in Homel with a refusal to take part in judicial examination of his administrative case. Uladzimir Katsora received summons on October 13 by registered mail.

The politician writes in his letter addressed to the chairman of the court: “The court is not seeking the truth: they declined an application for adding materials of police video footage to the case documents, ignore evident photographs and confirmations from our side that none of the persons mentioned in the administrative case performed the violations they are accused of”.

We remind that on September 16 at about 5 p.m. about fifteen activists and leaders of pro-demiocracy movement from Homel left the UCP office in Palesskaya Street and went to Uprising square. Soon a police bus stopped them. Riot policemen started to herd them into the paddy-wagon. The detained were taken to Chyhunachny police department and charged with unsanctioned march.

It was said in the document of Homel police that the detention of the oppositionists took place after an anonymous call to 102 phone number. The unknown informed that an “antisocial rally” is planned in Homel in Uprising Square.
