Ministry of Information refuses to register another independent newspaper

The Ministry of Information didn’t register “Prefekt Plus", an independent public and political l newspaper.

As the press service of the Belarusian Association of Journalists, this is the sixth time in the last three months when indecent media outlets have been denied registration. On November 10, the founder of the regional newspaper “Prefekt Plus” (the town of Hlubokae, the Vitsebsk region) was returned the document he had sent to the ministry for official registration on October 7.

The documents because the legal entity (private publishing and advertising company “Prefekt Plus”), which has the functions of editor of the newspaper, is registered in a dwelling house, says the official answer of November 6 , signed by deputy minister of information Liliya Ananich.

The Ministry of Information hasn’t registered regional newspapers “Soligorsk Plus”, “Novaya Gazeta Bobruiska”, “Maholouski Chas”, “Marynahorskaya”, and other press since September 2009.
