Attempts to penetrate into independent journalist’s apartment in Minsk

Several men in mufti introduced themselves public utilities workers and as tried to burst into Syarhei Kruchkou’s apartment in Minsk at 12:40 noon on November 23.

Belarusian independent journalist Syarhei Kruchkou told this in an interview to the press service of the Belarusian Association of Journalists.

“They said they needed to examine the apartment. When I refused to let them in, the asked: ‘What if we are from the law enforcement bodies?’ I said they should show an appropriate warrant, but they didn’t have it. They suggested that I should open the door and give a written explanation I don’t allow them in without a warrant. I refused again, they the guests left and promised to get back with a permit to examine the apartment,” Kruchkou said.

The journalists watched through the window that some people in mufti left the house and get into a car.
