At the moment Uladzimir Matskevich works as advisor of director general of a large Russian company “Sovkomflot”.
As informed by “Narodnaya Volya”, Uladzimir Matskevich, a former chairman of the State Security Committee of Belarus (KGB), visited Minsk last weekend.
“I am here for just a few days, I have come for treatment,” Matskevich said.
“Sovkomflot” joint stock company is one of the most important infrastructure enterprises of Russia, the largest see carrier.
Director general of the company is Sergei Frank. In 1998-2004 he was Transport Minister of Russia, then an assistant of Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov.
It should be noted that Uladzimir Matskevich was chief of the KGB for 5 years (from December 1995 to November 2005).
Not long before his dismissal Matskevich signed a decree on preventive arrest of Dzmitry Paulichenka, who was a commander of military unit 3214, for 30 days.
It was written in the document: “There is reliable information that Dzmitry Paulichenka is an organizer and leader of the group which is in charge of abductions and neutralization of citizens. In particular, the criminal group headed by D. Paulichenka, is involved in murder of H. Samojlau on August 5, 2000. Samojlau was a leader of the Belarusian branch of the Russian National Unity, unregistered in Belarus, and in murders of other persons”.
Paulichenka was released from the remand prison of the KGB on personal order of Lukashenka.
The world community suspects Dzmitry Paulichenka and other high-ranking Belarusian officials – Viktar Shejman, Yury Sivakou and Uladzimer Navumau – in involvement in murders of Belarusian opposition leaders - Yury Zakharanka, Viktar Hanchar, Anatol Krasouski and a journalist Zmitser Zavadski.
