Libel in state press caused death of mother of three children?

A publication in local official newspaper “Nasha Talachynshchyna” was a cause of stress that led to aortic disruption of a woman.

A reason for heart problems of a 40-year old dweller of the village of Zvyanyachy (the Talachyn district) was a publication in the local newspaper where the woman was called a heavy drinker. The paper published a report on minor affairs inspection’ raid, the website orsha.belard.org reports.

In real fact, the woman didn’t drink, but the inspection visited her house as she had three children and the family was rather poor. She worked for an agricultural productive cooperative “Zvyanyachy”, her husband is a railway worker. The economic situation in the family wasn’t good.

In spite of the tragedy, the paper doesn’t admit its mistake and is not going to publish a contradiction. The editor says the inspection is to blame for giving wrong data. But the inspection keeps silence, while the disabled children have to live without their mother.
