In Homel oppositionists detained for picket in front of KGB building

Today in Homel policemen have detained three activists of the “Young Front” and the organizing committee for creation of the Belarusian Christian Democracy party.

As the BelaPAN has been informed by the activist of the organising committee for creation of the Belarusian Christian Democratic party Kanstantsin Zhukouski, 4 young men marched with a streamer: “KGB booted us from work. Will the Constitution defend us?”from the regional Drama Theatre till the building of the regional executive committee. They were standing there for about 20 minutes. As said by Zhukouski, 10 policemen were observing the rally.

Soon 2 participants of the picket, Andrei Tsyanyuta and Vasil Takarenka, were detained on Lenin Square and taken to the police department of Tsentralny district for examination. Policemen explained them that the reason of detention was “unsanctioned meeting”.

K. Zhukousaki was detained and taken to the police department as well, though as said by him he hadn’t been participating in the rally. He was videoing the events near the executive committee. Two more participants of the rally came to the police department themselves to support their collegues.
