Million of fines for protest near executive committee

Activists of the “Young Front” and the Belarusian Christian Democracy have been fined millions of rubles for the rally staged against arbitrary actions of the KGB.

Andrus Tsyanyuta was fined 80 basic units (2,800,000 Br, or $1,018) under two administrative articles: participation in unsanctioned rally and resistance to police workers, Vasil Tokaranka fined 50 basic units (1,750,000 Br, or $636), and Kastus Zhukouski – 100 basic units (3,500,000 Br, or $1 272).

According to the decision of the court, young activists have been given back the white-red-white flag seized during the detention.

As we have informed, today activists of the “Young Front” and the organizing committee for creation of the Belarusian Christian Democracy party held a protest rally against mass dismissals of oppositionists carried out under pressure of the KGB (State Security Committee). They marched from the regional Drama Theatre to the building of the regional executive committee. They carried had a streamer: “KGB booted us from work. Will the Constitution defend us?” and a white-red-white flag. The picket lasted for about 30 minutes.
