Action in solidarity with political prisoners dispersed near Lukashenka’s administration

Activists of the “Young Front” stood near the building of the administration with a banner “No to Political Terror”.
Officers of protection service of Lukashenka’s Administration came out to the participants of the picket and ordered to stop it. The “Young Front” member answered according with the Constitution, they had a right for free expression.
But as leader of the “Young Front” Zmitser Dashkevich told the Charter’97 press center, five activists were detained. Among the detained are Yaraslau Vystavets, Yulia Mikhailava, Vadzim Khanyauka, Bahuslau Revyakou, and Mikola Dzyamidzenka.
Zmitser Dashkevich told the Charter’97 press center:
“Ahead of the trial over “Young Front” activist Artsyom Dubski, the authorities are doing their best to prevent actions in solidarity with political prisoners. But we will hold an action in solidarity tomorrow in Asipovichy and we call everyone to come there and support the prisoner of conscience.”
On March 3, Artsyom Dubski, former participant of the Process of 14, stands trial in Asipovichy. The oppositionist was detained in Homel on February 13, when he was returning from Belarus. Dubski is in pre-trial detention center in Babruisk now. He is accused on violation of rules of serving punishment.
The Case of 14 a case under Article 342 of the Criminal Code of Belarus, instigated against participants of a peaceful protest demonstration of entrepreneurs, held in Minsk on January 10, 2008.
For participation in this rally youth activist Andrei Kim was sentenced to one and a half year in penal colony by the Central district court of Minsk. He was released in August 2008. Activist of the civil campaign “European Belarus” Alyaksandr Barazenka was sentenced to 1 year of restriction of liberty without sending him to a penal colony. He was kept in remand jail from October 27 to December 9 2008. Other participants of the Process of Fourteen – Alyaksei Bondar, Artsyom Dubski, Mikhal Kryvau, Mikhal Pashkevich, Ales Straltsou, Ales Charnyshou, Tatsyana Tsishkevich, Mikhail Subach and Paval Vinahradau, were sentenced to 2 years of restriction of freedom without sending them to penitentiary institutions. Minor Maxim Dashuk got 1.5 years of restraint of liberty.
Now all of them in fact are under house arrest, under close surveillance, and can be imprisoned for any violation of rules at any moment.
