Ivan Shyla addresses Education Minister of Poland: he’s not allowed to study in motherland

“Young Front” activist Ivan Shyla has addressed the education minister of Poland Katarzyna Hall with a request to allow him to pass the final exam in English and receive a school leaving certificate.

In his letter the young activist who had been forcibly drafted to the army notes that in summer 2008 “he was expelled from school on political grounds before he passed the last exam”. Then he went to the court, but he couldn’t seek justice there as Belarusian courts depend on the executive authorities, the web-site mfront.net informs.

In January Ivan Shyla was drafted to the army in violation of all legal norms and procedures, in a forcible and illegal way.

The chairman of “Moladz BNF” Franak Vyachorka and one of the “Young Front” leaders Zmitser Khvedaruk appeared in the same situation.

“I am in the army now, but I have a legal right to pass the last school exam. Representatives of the authorities told me about that during the draft. When it came to the point, the Belarusian Defense Ministry and Education Ministry started to shrink back from granting me this totally legal opportunity,” Shyla wrote in his address.

The young activist underscores that the Polish government has always been very effective in supporting the Belarusian society, recalls the educational program of Kastus Kalinouski and hopes for support of the Belarusian side in this issue.
