The leadership of the hockey club Metallurg has stated today that Lebedzeu is to work as a trainer of the team until 2010.
On April 19 the hockey team of Alyaksandr Lukashenka for the first time in history lost to another Belarusian team. In the final of the nation-wide tournament of amateur teams, a team from Homel which trainer is Yauhen Lebedzeu, defeated the presidential team, “Salidarnasts” writes.
On April 20 the supervisory board of Zhlobin hockey club “Metallurg” decided to withdraw before term a contract with main coach Yauhen Lebedzeu. It was reported to BelTA by the club director Aleh Baharad. The agency noted that Lebedzeu dismissal was rather unexpected, as the team has achieved the objective to win medals of the hockey open championship of Belarus. By the way, for the first time in his history “Metallurg” has reached the third place. No wonder that the Internet-community took dismissal of the trainer who had a successful season with irony, as it took place right after the victory over Lukashenka’s team.
On April 21 “official reports” appeared on the website of Zhlobin-based club signed by Aleh Baharad, te club director. Having criticized the work of Yauhen Lebedzeu, he said:
“As the club director, and the person authorized by the supervisory board of the club, state officially that there were no official documents signed about Lebedzeu’s dismissal, though I am bother by his quarrelsome personality and absence of ability to listen to critical remarks. The contract with Lebedzeu is to expire on June 30, 2010. He is offered to fulfil his duties, despite of the stir in the media”.
In reality, the reason for sensation in mass media was the information about the dismissal which had been receievd from Aleh Baharad. Lebedzeu confirmed the fact of his dismissal to BelTA, but denied comment.
In this situation it is obvious that the dismissal took place. But the response evoked by it forced the leadership of Zhlobin club to change their decision. However, it’s too early to call this story finished. Who knows, maybe some other piece of news would be received from Baharaz on April 22?
