Belarusian officials taking part in NAM ministerial conference

Belarus calls on the world community to coordinate efforts to tackle the global economic and financial crisis at the ministerial conference of the coordinative bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Havana.
“Speaking at the opening ceremony, deputy foreign minister of Belarus Syarhei Aleynik emphasized the world community should coordinate its efforts to tackle the global economic and financial crisis,” the Belarusian MFA told Interfax on Thursday.
The MFA also said it is planned to adopt a final document in Havana which will become a basis for a draft final document of the NAM XV summit in July 2009.
The draft final document of the ministerial meeting in Havana includes proposals by Belarus based on key aims of the Belarusian delegation in the UN, the MFA said adding it concerned carrying out universal periodic review of the Human Rights Committee, creating an effective international mechanism to easier access to using new and renewable power sources for all countries, forming the Global partnership against Slavery and Trafficking Human Beings in and adopting the Global Plan of Action to prevent human trafficking.
On April 29, S. Aleinik had talks with foreign ministers and heads of delegations of Venezuela, Guatemala, Cuba, Jordan, India, Libya, Sudan, and the United Arab Emirates in the frames of the ministerial NAM meeting and discussed topical issues of bilateral relations and cooperation in international organizations, the MFA informed.
