Another step towards recognition of Abkhazia: Belarusian dictator congratulated Bagapsh on 60-th birthday

Alyaksandr Lukashenka congratulated head of unrecognized republic Abkhazia Sergei Bagapsh on his 60th birthday.

The press service of Lukashenka reports about this.

So, it is the second sign of the Belarusian ruler that shows the authorities are ready to recognize South Ossetia and Abkhazia, the Georgian territories occupied by Russia.

It should be reminded that Alyaksandr Lukashenka met Abkhazia’s head Sergei Bagapsh during his working visit to Sochi in the last decade of March and said he was ready for “close cooperation” with the unrecognized republic.

“The number of things to deal with always increases after gaining independence. We will be glad if Belarus’ participation will resolve more problems in this region,” Lukashenka said to Sergei Bagapsh.

Alyaksandr Lukashenka repeatedly stated that an issue of recognition of South Ossetia and Abkhazia would be considered by the “parliament” at the spring session. The EU officials repeatedly said that whether Belarus would be invited for an EU summit in Prague on May 7 depended, in particular, on recognition or non-recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia by Belarus.

It should be noticed that a question on recognition of South Ossetia and Abkhazia is included in a draft agenda of the spring session of the Belarusian “house of representatives”, opened in Minsk on April 2.
