President of France and German Chancellor demonstrated their solidarity with Belarus at a meeting in Berlin on May 11.

The leaders of the two countries met in Berlin Sony Centre with German political activists and guests from other countries, among them representatives of the Belarusian Christian Social Union “Young Democrats” (BCSU-YD). The meeting was organized by Junge Union, the youth organization of the German ruling CDU/CSU grouping.

As head of the BCSU-YD Alyaksandr Shumkevich told BelaPAN “the leaders of France and Germany were happy to see us, Belarusians, at this event and expressed a hope one day Belarus would become a part of the united Europe and wished us success in our struggle fro democratization of Belarus”.

French president Nikolas Sarkozy and German Chancellor Angela Merkel put on white-red-white bracelets with a slogan “For Freedom” as a sign of their solidarity.
