“Young Front” activists to stand trial for action “School for All” (Photo)

Youth activists, detained on May 5 in Salihorsk at the rally in support of “Young Front” leader Ivan Shyla, forcefully drafted into the army, were summoned to court.

Administrative cases of Khrystsina Samoilava, Hleb Snorkin, Illya Nahorny and minor Illya Shyla and Nasta Khadouskaya will be heard on May 12, Salihorsk.org reports.

Khrystsina Samoilava, Hleb Snorkin, and Illya Nahorny were supposed to stand a trial today, on May 8, at 10.00 a.m. in the Salihorsk district court, cases of Illya Shyla and Nasta Khadouskaya were expected to be considered by administrative commissions of the district executive committee. But militia officers visited youth activists on May 7 and issued them the summonses. The trial was delayed till May 12.

Besides, the website learnt from staff of a Salihorsk school, a delegation from Minsk was sent to Salihorsk schools to carry out political “purging” that can affect youth activists and leadership of education establishments in connection with increased activity of the youth.

It should be reminded that young people gathered on the central square of Salihorsk on May 5 and unfurled a streamer “School for All”. The young people were spreading leaflets about unlawful expulsion from school and forceful call-up for military service of Ivan Shyla. After 20 minutes, two militia cars appeared on the square. Khrystsina Samoilava, Hleb Snorkin, Illya Nahorny, Illya Shyla, and Nasta Khadouskaya were detained. Reports of administrative offence were drawn up against them in a militia department. Additional report for “petty hooliganism” was drawn up against Illya Shyla, who was making a photo report about the picket and was not taking part in the protest.
