Scandal: General prosecutor’s anti-corruption report included deceased persons

At consultations on crime and corruption on June 19 for about an hour Ryhor Vasilevich was reading out names of officials who received plots of land illegally.
The head of the criminal investigation department of the Interior Ministry of Belarus Anatol Savitski was on the blacklist too, “Komsomolskaya Pravda in Belarus” informs. However, in 2008 Anatol Savitski retired from the law-enforcing agencies.
- I haven’t heard about that, - Anatol Savitski said. – I haven’t received anything illegal, and haven’t done anything illegal. It’s true, I have a plot of land, but it was registered long ago: in 2005 or 2006.
- It means that no claims have been made against you so far?
- No.
The same reaction was received from the officer of traffic police of the police department of Frunzenski district of Minsk Andrei Dyleuski, who was granted a plot of land in the settlement of Baraulyany in 2006.
- Yesterday my colleagues told me they read about that in a newspaper. I do not know how to comment on it. It must be a mistake, -- Dyleuski said.
And it was simply impossible to find deputy minister of economy Filimonava, mentioned by Vasilevich at the consultations.
- We have never had such a deputy minister! – the press-service of the Economy Ministry stated. – though we had a woman with such a name several years ago, she worked in the State Property Fund.
Oh, they have confused me with my namesake from the Energy Ministry! The woman with the same name as mine is a deputy minister,” Liudmila Filimonava from the State Property Fund said. – I do not have a position to be involved in such affairs.
The chairman of Architecture and Building department of Minsk regional executive committee Syarhei Mouchan was sincerely surprised when he heard about statements of the prosecutor’s office.
- I was transferred to work in Minsk from a different town. It was specified in the contract that I would be given a flat within two years, but that hasn’t happened, I continued to go to Minsk from Zhodzina in a train,” Syarhei Mouchan explained. – That is why in the late 2005 I filed a request to give me a plot of land. I have all the documents for that. I have been building a house in Baraulyany for 4 years, but only a framework is there still. What have I violated? I need a place to live, and I do not have any property in Minsk or in Minsk region.
By the way, the black list of the office of Prosecutor General includes not only former or serving officials, but even the deceased. For instance, the general director of the housing and municipal economy department of Minsk regional executive committee Mikalay Halavatski. As said by the prosecutor general, Halavatski received plots of land in a rural executive committee on April 19, 2008 without providing documents that he needs housing improvements.
- Halavatski died a year ago, and he hadn’t been working here in our organisation for three years, -- representatives of the receiving office of the Minsk regional executive committee said.
At the moment the press-service of the Prosecutor General's Office declines to comment on the confusion with the names.
