Minimal wage in Luxemburg 29-fold higher than in Belarus

As “Nasha Niva” newspaper reports, minimum wage in Luxemburg amounts to 1642 euros.

According to data of Eurostat statistical office, a minimum wage in Ireland is 1462 euros, in Belgium – 1387 euros.

The lowest minimum wages in the EU are in Bulgaria (123 euros) and Romania (153 euros).

The minimum wages were set in 20 out of 27 countries. The exceptions are Austria, Denmark, Italy, Germany, Finland, and Sweden.

Romania is the first in working hours per week (41.8 hours). It is followed by Latvia, Poland, and the Czech Republic (41.7 hours). People in France, Belgium, and Ireland have the shortest working weeks (38.4, 38.6, and 38.9 hours respectively).

People in the EU work averagely 38.6 hours per week and have 25 days of paid holidays a year.

We the website www.charter97.org has reported earlier, a minimum wage in Belarus in January was 229,000 rubles, or 56 euros (according to the exchange rate of August 6, 2009). So, a minimum wage of a Luxemburg dweller is 29-fold higher one of a Belarusian.
