Is Berezovsky no obstacle to friendship of Russian and Belarusian Interior Ministries?

On September 23 a meeting of head of internal ministries of Belarus and Russia took place in Brest. Interaction of the power ministries of the two countries was discussed there.
“One cannot expect anything better, we have no problems in our relations,” has stated the head of the Internal Ministry of Belarus Anatol Kulyashou today summing up the results of the meeting in Brest with his Russian counterpart Rashid Nurgaliyev, AFN informs.
As said by him, the two ministries establish “highly professional and very mobile” cooperation.
These statements stand in stark contrast with the real situation. It is known that until recently, at least before the US lawyer Zeltser was released (he was arrested in Minsk in spring 2008), Boris Berezovsky often visited Belarus, though he had been put on the international wanted list by Russia.
At the same time, Belarusian Interior Ministry did nothing to extradite Berezovsky to Russia. However, formally Belarus was visited by Platon Elenin, not Berezovsky. That’s the name the Russian businessman uses hiding from Russian justice in the Great Britain.
“Our cooperation has a standing nature, we have possibilities to discuss issues at the joint boards and joint conferences. We understand perfectly well that it is simply impossible to put an end to criminality alone,” Kulyashou said.
It is clear that Berezovsky is a hard nut to crack for the Belarusian Interior Ministry. But considering such a “highly professional” cooperation, Kulyashou’s agency could have at least informed the ministry of Nurgaliyev about the next visit of Elenin to Belarus.
In order to reinforce the cooperation, a silent but effective operation could have been allowed for representatives of the Russian Interior Ministry at the territory of Belarus. Summing up the results of such cooperation, it would be possible to discuss a strong professional friendship of the two law-enforcing ministries at a press-conference for hours.
