Belarus’s foreign trade volumes show drastic decrease

The volume of Belarus’s foreign trade with several countries significantly decreased in January–November 2009.
According to the National Statistics Committee, exports to all countries dropped by 38.4% year-over-year and amounted to $19,060 billon; imports decreased by 30.4% reaching $25,427.2 billion, BelaPAN reports.
Belarus traded with 180 countries during this period. Goods were delivered to markets of 139 countries, the republic imported goods from 168 countries. Belarus’s main trade partners were: Russia (47.3% of the total sales volume), the Netherlands (7.7%) , Germany (6.3%), Ukraine (6.1%), Latvia (3.5%), Poland (3.2%), China (2.5%), the UK (2.1%), Italy (1.7%), India (1.3%), Brazil (1.2%).
Exports of goods to Russia amounted to $6,039.4 billion, which is 39.5% less than export for 11 months in 2008; imports from Russia was $14,986,6 (32.5% less).
Exports to the Netherlands reached $3,233.7 billion (36.7% less yoy); imports amounted to $205.5 million (38.4% less).
The volume of exports to Ukraine reached $1,542.9 billion (43% less), imports – $1,149.7 billion (22.6% less).
Exports to Germany amounted $862.9 million (a 12.4% increase), imports – $1,949.1 billion (22.6% less).
Exports to Poland reached $732.9 million (57.6% less), imports – $702.3 million (33.2% less).
Exports to the United Kingdom totalled to $722.6 million (46.3% less), imports – $210.7 million (14.1%).
The volume of exports to China amounted to $154.8 million (70.4% less), imports – 960 million (25%).
Exports to Latvia reached $1,444.8 billion (29.2% less), imports – $104.9 million (17.3%). These figures for Lithuania are $336 million (42.2% less) and $174 million (18.1%).
The volume of exports to the United States amounted to $38.2 million (72.5% less), imports – $386 million (11.8%).
Exports to India showed a 1.6-fold increase amounting $473.90million, imports dropped by 4% to $101.8 million.
It should be noticed that Venezuela, as well as Iran and other Arab states are not on the list of the main trading partners for an unknown reason, though Alyaksandr Lukashenka stated on promoting trade in these directions.
