200 mn rubles stolen from ATM in Minsk

An ATM in the Zavadski district of Minsk was broken open at late night January 26.

More than Br200 million were stolen, the city militia department told Interfax news agency.

“Thefts sawed the door latch of an ATM in the Zavadski district and stole more than Br200 million,” the militia department informs. “A criminal case under part 4 of article 205 (Theft) of the Criminal Code of Belarus was instigated. We are looking for an offender,” the militia depart said.

As charter97.org has already reported, the number of robbing ATMs and exchange offices has recently increased. A dead body of a 21-year-old teller was found in the exchange office in the Minsk “Avtozavodskoi” supermarket in Varvasheni Street on December 10, 2009. The body was found by cash-in-transit guard who called for militia. As it was found out, about Br 35 million was stolen. A criminal case under part 2 of article 139 (Murder) of the Criminal Code of Belarus was instigated over the incident.
