Myachyslau Hryb: “Its’ predictable election with preplanned result”

On January 29 forming of territorial commissions is to be finished. However it is already known that just a few opposition representatives have become their members.
One of the leaders of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada) Myachyslau Hryb said to “Belarusian Partisan” that changes to the electoral law had been made with the aim to hold “predictable elections with a preplanned result”.
“1430 amendments have been made to the Electoral Code. These amendments have democratized some provisions of the electoral legislations. But judging by the results of forming territorial commissions, these changes haven’t influenced, - and won’t influence! – the course of this election.
There are two main positions, on which the result of any elections depends. They are election observation and vote count. They have remained unchanged. These changes give an opportunity to order and form the needed election results. It’s true, according to the amendments up to 30% of the election commissions should be represented by political parties and public associations’ members. But will representatives of democratic organisations be able to get there? No, this figure is reached due to such parties as the Liberal Democratic Party, the Communist Party of Belarus, pro-governmental NGOs as I would cal them (the Trade Unions Federation, women’s organisations),” the politician said.
However, as noted by Myachyslau Hryb, formation of regional and Minsk city ecetion commissions is not the key determinant of this elections.
“All the votes are to be counted by lower commissions, and election commissions are to sum up the results too. It is naïve to hope that the local vertical of power would include opposition representatives in the commissions
The local vertical of power itself is interested to receive obedient Soviets, on the leash.
All the results are counted by precinct commissions. That is why this election, as well as the future ones, are predictable. Al these changes to the Electoral legislation have been made for predictable elections with a preplanned result” the politician noted.
