Belarusian presidential aspirant Andrei Sannikov addressed his fellow countrymen.
Dear friends,
Some days are left until the end of signature collecting campaign to nominate candidates for presidency in the Republic of Belarus. I thank all those people of Belarus who put their signatures in my support. Great thanks to the members of my initiative group, who were collecting signatures for me all over the country in sun, in rain, in snow and in cold. Thanks to those who come with signature sheets to students dormitories and workers’ hostels in spite of interference of the local authorities and aggression of the supporters of dictatorship.
I am also thankful to all activists who were collecting signatures for my colleagues, democratic candidates. We have collected more than 500,000 signatures together.
The beginning of the election campaign showed that most Belarusians are looking forward to changes. They are fed up with the acting authorities, fed up with the sitting ruler. People want a new president. We saw every day in Minsk and big towns how people crowded around pickets for democratic candidates and kept away from Lukashenka’s pickets or expressed their negative attitude towards the dictator.
But it’s too early to relax. We stand at the beginning of our fair battle for new free European Belarus.
According to preliminary data, more than 110,000 signatures have been collected to nominate me as a presidential candidate, but we should understand who we are dealing with. The authorities will do everything possible to hinder registration of strong democratic candidates. That’s why we need a guaranteed safety margin. We must continue signature collecting and boost momentum until the last day.
I address to those who haven’t put their signature yet. I need your activity and support. Do not rely on other people. Take your passport and come to our volunteers. You have a real chance to leave your autograph in history.
For our freedom! For normal Belarus!
