However, Russia and Kazakhstan plan to join the WTO separately.

Belarus confirms its readiness to enter the WTO as a part of the Customs Union. This statement was made by Belarusian deputy foreign minister Andrei Yeudachenka at a press conference in Minsk, Interfax-Zapad reports.

“As of now, we have a very serious document, a decision of the heads of government (of Belarus, Russia, and Kazakhstan – Interfax) saying we will join the WTO as a customs territory,” Andrei Yeudachenka said. “We do not have any other decisions,” he added.

According to him, “We cannot rely on certain statements by certain politicians and specialists in our strategy.” “In any case, we have a decision of our prime ministers, and this decision hasn’t been revoked,” Yeudachenka expressed a position of Belarus on the prospects for WTO joining.
