In the run-up to the presidential election in Belarus rallies “Free Belarus-2010” will be held all over Europe.
The Young European Federalists organization (JEF Europe) has decided to organize an action “Free Belarus 2010” on the Day of Belarusian Solidarity. The official website of the organization informs that the action would be held in the cities of Europe and is timed to the presidential election in Belarus.
“All sections, NGOs and activists in Europe and across the globe are called upon to join in a massive protest against the last dictatorship on the European continent and ask for the democratisation of the country. The people in Belarus must be given a real choice as well as a voice to speak up!”, the report of the JEF reads.
It is expected that activists will gag statues in the streets of European cities and will held a campaign in social networks. Besides, www.thenewfederalist.eu website will publish a series of articles dedicated to Belarus.
The JEF plans also lobby actions among political decision-makers in Brussels and in other cities.
The JEF calls upon participation in establishing a democratic procedure of election in Belarus “forever”. In particular, the organization demands the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Catherine Ashton to contribute to expanding cooperation between the EU member states and European institutions with the aim to put an end to the Belarusian dictatorship.
