T-shirts case palmed off with by Belarusian prosecutor’s office

A lawyer and human rights activist Uladzimir Malei has received an answer to his complaint from the prosecutor’s office. The complaint concerned the agitation action held during the football match on November 21 in Brest.
The answer was signed by Alyaksandr Kulich, the head of department on supervision over law fulfillment and legal acts legitimacy, though the human rights activist had addressed the prosecutor of Brest region personally. It is stated in the answer that the complaint of Malei had been submitted for consideration to Brest regional election commission, inform “Human Rights Activists For Free Elections”.
Uladzimir Malei was surprised by the indifferent position of the prosecutor’s office, which refrained from making an evaluation of the actions of the organizers of the agitation event in which children were taking part.
The human rights activist has lodged one more legal application to the Prosecutor’s office of Brest region, for them to find out still, who had been an organizer of the mass agitation event in support of the presidential candidate Lukashenka. Besides, Malei asks to inform him at what expense, from which funds, in what quantity, by whom and where the T-shirts with the portrait of Lukashenka had been manufactured, and to take measures of prosecutor’s reaction to the persons who sanctioned violating the electoral legislation during campaigning, or more exactly, a use of funds which had not been deposited to the extra-budgetary fund of the candidate for presidency.
The human rights activist has also informed the OSCE observers, who are to meet with the deputy prosecutor of Brest region, about the situation with the agitation event in support of Lukashenka.
We remind that on November 21 in Brest before the beginning of the 33th tour of Belarus Football Cup, football players came into the field accompanied by underage teenagers who were wearing T-shirts with a portrait of Lukashenka and the words: “Our president”.
