Grybauskaite called “Snob of the Year” owing to Lukashenka

The British weekly The Economist has conferred a title of “The Snob of the Year” upon Dalia Grybauskaite.
It has been reported by ru.DELFI.lt with a reference to BNS.
The reason is Grybauskaite’s turning down the invitation to come to dinner with the United States Barack Obama and positive attitude to the Belarusian dictator Alyaksandr Lukashenka.
The reason of her denial to arrive for dinner with Obama was Grybauskaite’s negative attitude to the new START treaty (Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty) between the US and Russia, which infuriated the US Administratuion.
“She can get into the White House only in case she would come there with other tourists,” The Economist quotes an anonymous US official.
The magazine also noted that while working in the European Commission, where she was responsible for budget, Grybauskaite performed her duties perfectly well, but duties of a president are different.
The Lithuanian president declined an invitation to the dinner organised by the US President in the Czech Republic in early April. Leaders of East European countries were invited to the dinner. Grybauskaite said she does not want to drink Champaign toasting the treaty which could undermine Europe’s security.
