  • 17.02.2010, 16:58

Some oppositionists received telephone calls from people, who introduced themselves as members of the district election commission and demanded them to withdraw from elections.

Head of a district BPF division Ivan Sheha said this. Oppositionists received threats that they and their relatives could lose jobs, Radio Svaboda reports.

Ivan Sheha says the organization proposed 10 people as candidates to the local councils. Members of initiative groups have met pressure.

Ivan Sheha added that unknown people phone those who have recently joined the BPF party.

We remind that ahead of the electoral campaign, Ivan Sheha and other activists from Slonim had a meeting with the district executive committee head, who assured the oppositionists he was supporter of the law and elections in the Slonim district would be held in line with the Belarusian legislation.
