The European Parliament recommends not inviting members of the Belarusian “parliament” to the EU-Neighborhood East Parliamentary Assembly (EURONEST PA).

The decision about composition of the Belarusian delegation in the EU-Neighborhood East Parliamentary Assembly (EURONEST PA) has been postponed for a month. BelaPAN has been informed about that in the office of Polish deputy Jacek Protasiewicz, the head of the Delegation of the European Parliament for relations with Belarus.

On March 10 members of the delegation of the European Parliament at the Euronest voted for recommending the European Parliament to invite to participate in the work of the EURONEST only representatives of the civil society and opposition. Such a proposal and the list of recommended names the delegation forwarded to the chairman of the European parliament Jerzy Buzek and representatives of parliamentary factions.

On March 11 a meeting of Buzek with chairman of the factions was held, at which this issue was considered. However members of the meeting postponed the decision for a month.

“It also means that the first session of the EURONEST planned for March 24 is to be postponed for a month,” a representative of the office of Jacek Protasiewicz informed.

It is expected that the issue of the composition of the Belarusian delegation in the EURONEST is to be considered in the first half of April.

It is planned that members of the Belarusian delegation will be: the chairman of the Belarusian Social Democratic Hramada Stanislau Shushkevich, a representative of the Council of Belarusian intelligentsia Alyaksandr Kazulin, the leader of the United Civil Party Anatol Lyabedzka, the chairman of the Belarusian Association of Journalists Zhana Litvina, the leader of the Belarusian Congress of democratic trade unions Alyaksandr Yarashuk, the chairman of the Union of Poles in Belarus non-recognized by the authorities Andzelika Borys, the leader of “Fair World” party Syarhei Kalyakin, the chairman of the Belarusian Popular Front Party Alyaksei Yanukevich, a representative of the public association “Ekodom” Iryna Kaparykha, the leader of “For Freedom” movement Alyaksandr Milinkevich.
