An activist of the BCD party is in prison now, so he is not able to apply for registration.

The Zhodzina city election commission refuses to accept the documents for registration of Andrus Kasheuski as a candidate for a seat in the Zhodzina city council and Minsk region council. The documents for registration are applied by co-head of the BCD organizing committee Paval Sevyarynets, BelaPAN reports.

More than 300 signatures were collected for Kasheuski, who has been serving a 15-day arrest since March 3. All documents needed were prepared, and Sevyarynets, as a member of the initiative group, decide to apply for registration of Kasheuski.

Secretary of the election commission Aksana Hryshkevich refused to accept documents from Sevyarynets referring to “acting laws”.

Sevyarynets filed an appeal to Uladzimir Yeutakhovich, the head of the Zhodzina city election commission, demanded to issue a written decision on Kasheuski’s case and informed him about it.

Andrei Kasheuksi was detained in Minsk metro in the evening March 3. He was guarded to the Leninski district court and sentenced to 15 days of arrest allegedly for disorderly conduct. The arrested oppositionist went on hunger strike in protest.
