Oppositional local council candidate arrested for 15 days in Belarus

The authorities deprived the potential candidate, representative of the BCD party, of the opportunity to gather signatures for his nomination.

Andrei Kasheuski was going to run in the elections to the Zhodzina city council. The oppositionist was detained in Minsk metro in the evening March 3. His location remained unknown until today’s morning.

Is it was found out, the activist was guarded to the Leninski district court n the evening. As the BCD press service reports, judge Navitskaya sentenced Andrei Kasheuski to 15 days of arrest. He was found guilty of disobedience to militia.

The oppositionist distributes the newspaper “Narodnaya Volya” in Minsk. He didn’t have any copies of the paper at the moment of detention.
