Zhlobin executive authorities take revenge on their former colleague-oppositionist

  • 8.04.2010, 14:58

The local authorities in Zhlobin press on Yauheny Basareuski, a member of the party “Fair World”.

The politician occupied a high rank in the Zhlobin center of community property management. The activist joined the opposition communists after he had retired. The brave step of the former official apparently came as an unpleasant surprise for the Zhlobin authorities. The economic militia of the regional executive committee is looking for faults in the archives of the enterprise headed by Yauheny Basareuski to open a criminal case, “Belorusski Partizan” reports.

“The controlling bodies have never had claims to the enterprise. We were checked by the State Control Committee regional department, regional prosecutor’s office, auditing department of the Ministry of Finance. Problems began after I had joined the Fair World party,” the candidate for local councils said.

The persecuted activist said that anonymous “friends” advised him to withdraw from the elections. They said if I withdrew, all problems would be solved. Yauheny Basareuski is sure he is right. He is not going to withdraw from elections. Some inferiors of Yauheny Basareuski were called in to the KGB last week.

There’s an interesting detail: the oppositionist’s rival at elections to the Homel region council in Strashynski constituency #33 is Mikhail Kasyukou, the chairman of the Zhlobin district council.
