Riot policemen arrested Syarhei Kavalenka in Vitsebsk

The opposition activist was taken to the court of Pershamajski district of Vitsebsk handcuffed.
As charter97.org was told by Syarhei Kavalenka’s mother, the oppositionist was detained in the centre of Vitsebsk by riot policemen back on June 25. First they stated that the activist allegedly reminds a person suspected of a mobile phone theft, and then during the search a national white-red-white flag was found in his pocket.
Kavalenka was taken to the police department of Pershamajski district of Vitsebsk, and then in the remind prison where he was kept for more than 2 days. Today morning the oppositionist was taken to the court handcuffed. Notably, the oppositionist would stand trial for “hooliganism”, he was charged with using foul speech.
During the trial Kavalenka demanded to offer services of a lawyer to him, and the trial was postponed. Next time the activist is to be summoned to the court by a writ.
