Kyrgyz Ambassador to Belarus has stated that Kurmanbek Bakiyev's stay in Belarus has marked an imprint on Belarusian-Kyrgyz relations.

"Unfortunately, Kurmanbek Bakiyev's arrival, I do not like to lie, has left its mark," said Ishenkul Boldzhurova, Interfax reports.

The diplomat believes however that extradition of Kurmanbek Bakiyev to Kyrgyzstan is a right, and not an obligation of Belarus.

"It seems to me that extradition is not an obligation, but rather a right of a state," the Ambassador stated.

Boldzhurova referred to examples of extradition in the international practice.

The diplomat reminded that in the beginning of the second fortnight of May the Prosecutor's office of Belarus recieved a package of documents concerning Bakiyev's extradition. "The right of Belarus is to study these documents for one month. It is possible that additional documents would be needed," she said.

Boldzhurova underlined that she hadn't handed in the extradition documents to Belarus and was in Bishkek then. where as said by her "she carried out work for improving Belarusian-Kyrgyz relations". The Ambassador underlined that in accordance with the international law, the prosecutor's office can directly address prosecutor offices of other countries and forward necessary documents to them.

Boldzhurova has also stated that she does not have information about Kyrgyzstan's application to Interpol concerning Bakiyev's search. She noted that Kyrgyzstan addressed Interpol with a request to put on wanted list "relatives (of K. Bakiyev) whi took part in the country's plundering". "As for Bakiyev, I do not know whether an application to Interpol has been submitted," Kyrgyz Ambassador stated.

The Kyrgyz Ambassador to Belarus states that there is no threat to members of the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Bishkek.

"There is absolutely no danger for the diplomatic mission in Bishkek, in Kyrgyzstan," she underlined.

She added that "absolutely all diplomatic missions work, new missions arrive almost every week". She said that she does not know why Belarusian diplomats see danger for the Belarusian mission's arrival to Kyrgyzstan. "You should be there, it is calm there," the diplomat stated.
