Maryna Koktysh, a deputy editor of “Narodnaya Volya” newspaper, has received a summons today demanding to appear in the KGB investigation department for questioning as a witness.

As the journalist told in an interview to charter97.org, she is to come to chief investigator Pavel Charnyauski inthe KGB investigation department at 10 pm July 1. As the summons reads, Maryna Koktysh will be questioned as a witness in a criminal case #10068930031. The investigators told in a telephone conversation that it was the case against former major crimes investigator of the General Prosecutor’s Office Svyatlana Baikova, who is now under arrest.

“My articles about Baikova were based on the words of her lawyer, who told how she felt and what she said. “Narodnaya Volya” was trying to present an objective coverage of the case, we gave an opportunity to the Prosecutor General to speak out. By the way, we phoned to the KGB many times, but they refused to give comments. I don’t know what relation I can have to Baikova,” the “Narodnaya Volya” journalist said.

We remind that Natallya Radzina, a charter97.org journalist is to appear in the investigation department of the Minsk prosecutor’s office at 12 noon on July 1. The journalist received a telephone call from Viktar Feshchanka, a deputy head of the investigation department of the Minsk prosecutor’s office, who said he had some questions concerning the information that she might be an administrator of charter97.org website. Radzina thinks the call to prosecutors is connected with Lukashenka’s controversial decree on Internet censorship coming into force on July 1.
