Criminal case against Teresa Sobol closed again

The case against head of the Ivyanets branch of the unrecognized Union of Poles has been closed due to the absence of elements of crime.

Teresa Sobol is freed from all charges. Investigators say she is not guilty and didn’t commit any crimes as the director of the Polish House, Radio Svaboda reports.

Teresa Sobol was suspected of violation part 2 of article 210 of the Criminal Code (misuse of power): she received financial aid of 600,000 rubles from the Union’s leadership in 2004.

We remind that a conflict between Poland and Belarus over violations of the rights of the Belarusian Poles has been lasting for many years. The Union of Poles in Belarus split in 2005. there are two Union in Belarus, an official one, registered by the Ministry of Justice of Belarus, and an unrecognized one, supported by the Polish government and repressed by the Belarusian authorities.
