Policemen were absent from court

On July 28 the court of Savetski district of Minsk tried the administrative cases of democratic activists detained in Minsk on Independence Day.

The activists are charged with petty hooliganism, expressed in using foul language (Article 17.1 of the Administrative Code).

Participants of the rally on July 27 planned to lay flowers to the monuments of Yakub Kolas, Yanka Kupala and Maxim Bahdanovich. It was planned that people with ageequal to the age of independence would read poems. When participants of the rally started to move towards Yanka Kupala Street, riot policemen detained 4 activists: Vyachaslau Siuchyk, Mikalai Dzemidzenka, Andrei Kim and Katsyaryna Davydzik. They spent the night in the prison in Akrestsin Street.

The trials in the administrative cases are postponed to August 5. The trials are to be held from 2.15 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The lawyer of the Young Front Nasta Lojka told to “Belarusian partisan” that policemen who were witnesses were absent from the court.

All the detained were released before the court.
