The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs plans to establish partner relations with Gambia.

Foreign ministers of Belarus and Gambia Syarhei Martynau and Mamadou Tangara arranged to start working on several key bilateral agreements to create the foundation for the two countries’ cooperation, BelaPAN reports.

As the press service of the Belarusian MFA informs, Martynau said after the negotiations that Belarus and Gambia could interact in industry, agriculture, technical and educational potential of Gambia, and cooperate in developing the country’s resources.

“As Belarus has little natural resources, we are interested in everything our industry needs,” Martynau said. “We discussed in details new opportunities given by the latest oil extraction surveys in Gambia.”

“We underlined that the cooperation should be mutually beneficial. Belarus is ready to step up trade, export and import as well as to consider projects for setting up assembly enterprises, sharing new technologies, training labour force and engineers,” the Belarusian minister added.

“Belarus and Gambia are at the beginning of relations development,” the Belarusian foreign minister concluded. “We hope our cooperation will be effective and fruitful.”
