Today morning in Patio Pizza restaurant Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu has officially announced that he will run in the presidential election.

His short statement he started with a quote from Kastus Kalinouski’s “Peasants’ Truth”, and finished with the words of his own poem, which are likely to become the slogan of his election campaign: “I have come for you to win”, Radio Svaboda informs.

Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu has presented the message of his election platform. He told about the changes he plans to make in the social sphere, about economy modernization, about planned political reforms. In particular, Nyaklyaeu told that in case of his victory a transition from the presidential republic to a parliamentary-presidential republic would take place.

The speech of Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu was made in Belarusian. The speaker has also stated that more than 1,000 persons are to join his initiative group. The first meeting of the initiative group was to be held on the same morning. As usual, problems with premises occurred. The authorities refused to offer premises. That is why a great number of people were to come to the headquarters of the Belarusian Popular Front, though there would not be enough space for everyone there. The leaders of the initiative group are Svyatlana Navumava and Alyaksandr Fyaduta.

To the question whether people will gather on the square after the elections, Nyaklyaeu said that if the authorities steal the victory, people would gather at the square.
