Belarusian censors have not demonstrated the footage with the poet in the Russian film about the founder of the famous band Pesnyary.
On January 12 on ONT TV channel a Russian documentary “Bitter happiness of a Pesnyar” was broadcast. The film was dedicated to the 70th birthday of the People’s Artist of Belarus. Among its participants there was also a poet Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu, whose poems became “Pesnyary’s” song, “Nasha Niva” informs.
At the moment Nyaklyaeu is incarcerated in the KGB jail. On December 19 he was beaten up by people in black. He is charged with organizing “mass riots” in Minsk. The Belarusian regime is trying to present the opposition as destructive elements.
Appearance of Nyaklyaeu, a presidential candidate, on the state-run TV in a completely different role would contradict the official line.
