Hoax about Lukashenka’s injury causes stir on Belarusian Internet

Fishki.net, a Russianjokes site, published a fake news story about an accident in Sochi that instantly spread on the BynNet.

As we’ve learnt from a source close to Russian President’s administration, the tragedy occurred at 11:30 am February 13, 2011”, hoaxers write on the Russian website.

Skiing down a slope at a high speed, Alyaksandr Lukashenka lost his balance and crashed into a ski lift tower. He got serious injuries and was taken to an emergency hospital in Sochi by helicopter. According to preliminary information, Alyaksandr Lukashenka inured 6-7 vertebrae and broken his ankle. According to doctors, he is in grave condition”, the authors of the story describe the incident.

All comments by Belarusians to this news can be described as “It’s a shame to say but it’s really good news”.

We remind that the so called president is in Sochy on holidays. As his spokesman Pavel Lyohki said, the vacation had been extended and the dictator continued relaxing at a Caucasian resort.
