The famous musician appeals to Belarus as part of the global artistic campaign of solidarity.
Lou Reed was the frontman of legendary The Velvet Underground (from 1965 till 1970). The band didn’t enjoy much popularity during its existence, but was later declared the founder of alternative rock music and one of the most influential groups of its time.
Lou Reed started his solo career in 1971. His first albums, Lou Reed (with musicians who played for the group Yes and Elton John) and Transformer (produced by David Bowie and Mick Ronson) were released in 1972. In 1990, he and John Cale, another musician from The Velvet Underground, released the album Songs for Drella dedicated to Andy Warhal, who managed the band and died in 1987.
As of now, the musician has 21 albums. His songs were used as soundtracks to the films Trainspotting, Lost Highway, The Million Dollar Hotel, RocknRolla. He also took part in making such films as Blue in the Face, Prozac Nation, Rock & Rule, and Faraway, So Close.
