Viktar Ivashkevich: Partisan unit not to be registered with Gestapo

Former members of the Belarusian Popular Front party have decided not to register a new political structure at the Justice Ministry.

The organizing committee for creation of “Belaruski rukh” (“Belarusian movement”) party is not going to submit documents for registration in the near future. As the European Radio for Belarus was told by the member of the organizing committee Viktar Ivashkevich, they do not want the lists of the party members, submitted to the Justice Ministry, to be known to the KGB.

“To write any papers, in fact to the KGB, sending the lists of our activists there, is absolutely pointless and absurd. It is absurd for a partisan unit to be registered at Gestapo, offering lists of its members and secret addresses,” the politician is convinced.

As said by him, to make lists, to hold a foundation meeting and prepare all papers necessary for registration is not a problem for the organizing committee. But they will do that after the political situation changes in the country, a “normal” Justice Ministry and real freedom of speech, assembly and meetings would exist.

The politician states that the idea to remain “the organizing committee for creation of the party” emerged not long ago, and in the beginning everyone seriously planned registration of a new party. And as said by Ivashkevich, they are ready that preventive repressive measures would be assumed against them.

“But for today these preventive measures are possible to be assumed only against few persons who appear in the media under this name. But this does not concern hundreds of activists we have today, and who will join in this work. Their names as participants of an unregistered organization are not spotted. And such people like Vyachorka, me, Khadyka, are living under threat long ago, and we are used to that,” Viktar Ivashkevich stressed.

Besides, as said by him, recently the organizing committee has initiated a campaign “Boycott to the regime!”, and all efforts are spent on it, and not on the attempts to register the party, which is needed by no one under present conditions.
