Lyudmila Mirzayanava denied meeting with son

The mother of Fiodar Mirzayanau, sentenced to 3 years’ imprisonment in a colony, tried and failed to be offered another meeting with her son.
Today Lyudmila Mirzayanava went to file an application for meeting with her son to the court of Partyzanski district of Minsk.
- Judge Chatvyartkova, who had delivered the verdict, authorized one meeting with my son for me, -- Lyudmila Mirzayanava said to “Narodnaya Volya”. – It happened a few days after the sentence was pronounced. We talked to Fiodar just one hour. It was a very emotional meeting, I tried to support him. And now I have written an application for a repeat meeting. I am psychologist by training, so I had prepared appropriate materials for my son for him to easier adapt for those conditions he is going to live in. I wanted to hand in my application to Judge Chatvyartkova. But she was at consultations. Her secretary told me that a judge on duty, Alyaksandr Kuchyk, was to decide the issue of allowing a meeting for me, as long as Chatvyartkova is absent. He was surprised, as he was not engaged in the case, so the matter was out of his sphere. But he reassured me saying there would be no problems with this meeting. I was asked to wait. In about half an hour I was told to go to the reception room of the chairman of the court. The secretary of Chatvyartkova walked past me several times, and paid no attention to me. In half an hour it turned out that my application was received by Chatvyartkova. I came to her office again. Notably, when I asked the secretary why she had not told me my application was read by Chatvyartkova, when she saw me in the office of the court chairman, she said calmly: “I though you are there for other reasons.” It is a real humiliation. I have an impression that the legal system works in a way to hurt a person on purpose… As a result, today no one considered my application in fact, I was only told that I would receive a written answer.
I am going to challenge in Minsk city court the denial to grant me a meeting with my son.
