Authorities scared by calls for strikes

Summoning Syargei Serabro, the editor of Internet newspaper “Narodnye Novosti Vitebska” to a prosecutor’s office did not bear relation to the “Revolution through social networks”.

Prosecutors were interested how a call to launch indefinite strike was posted on Vitebsk forum 2.0 by forum user Syarhei Ryzhou, Euroradio reports.

The journalist was asked if he could delete this post on the forum. Serabro said he could do this, but prosecutors did not order him to do so. Syarhei Ryzhou’s post calling to go on strike can still be read on the forum. There’s information that the former participant of the presidential campaign was summoned to the prosecutor’s office too.

Syarhei Serabro thinks that by such measures local officials show Alyaksandr Lukashenka how they work to prevent protest actions and strikes.

Online newspaper “Narodnye Novosti Vitebska” and Internet forum “Vitebsk forum 2.0” are different projects, though they are located on the same virtual area. The Vitebsk forum has been designed for different people to express their views here.
