Autukhovich’s cell mate shows video of a prison shakedown

This kind of search supposes smashing down everything in a cell.

Dzmitry Kalayada, a former prisoner of penal colony No 5 in Ivatsevichy, sent a photo of political prisoner Mikalai Autukhovich he illegally took on his cell phone.

Dzmitry Kalyada sent Radio Svaboda a video he illegally recoded in the Ivatsevichy colony.

“This is how the cell looks after a search, or a shakedown as prisoners call it,” he wrote. “Such searches are conducted several times a month, always in a derogative humiliating form. Everything is being crashed and broken, both personal belonging and prison furniture. Prisoners must repair everything later.”
