Mikalai Khalezin: Time to bring “blue helmets” in Belarus

No one is able to figure out who is responsible for the outrage and beating of peaceful citizens in Belarus.
“Representatives of gangs do not show their IDs, do not have distinctive marks, do not react to calls to order. The authorities do not explain who these people, who violate all laws, are. The authorities do not consider these people “friends” nor do they disassociate themselves from their actions.
In my view, the situation has only one way out – representatives of the Belarusian civil society should address the United Nations asking for bringing “blue helmets”, the UN peacekeeping troops, in Belarus. It is they who should separate the two sides and try to defend Belarusian citizens from gangs. It must be done until they begin to kill people in streets,” the famous Belarusian journalist and playwright, Mikalai Khalezin, thinks.
We remind that over 1700 persons have recently been arrested in Belarus for clapping hands protesting against Lukashenka’s policy. They were forcefully detained by plainclothes representatives of law enforcement bodies.
