Libereco leader signs petition for Ales Bialiatski

Lars Bünger, chairman of the Swiss-based Libereco – Partnership for Human Rights, has joined the civil campaign for the release of Viasna’s leader Ales Bialiatski by signing a personal guarantee for the Belarusian human rights defender.

As of 17 August, some 500 persons have signed personal guarantees for the pre-trial release of Ales Bialiatski, including Nobel Prize holder Shirin Ebadi.

For a couple of years, Libereco has been engaged in organizing campaigns of support to victims of human rights violations in Belarus, including the recent Godparenthood campaign.

On 16 August, Libereco released a statement calling on Lukashenka to immediately release all prisoners of conscience.
