Average pay in Belarus is $240

An average accrued pay in Belarus in July 2011 was Br 1 mln 854 thousand, or about 240 US dollars (according to the real exchange rate in the black market).

BelTA has been informed about that by the National Statistics Committee. For comparison, in June it was Br 1 mln 782 thousand 857.

The average pay of manual and office workers in July this year was Br 1 mln 869 thousand 237 (Br 1 mln 799 thousand 416 in June).

It should be reminded that the so-called average pay is not an objective marker of the population’s welfare and is like an average temperature in a hospital. The majority of the population is paid a median wage, which does not exceed $120-190.
