Lyabedzka not given back his passport

The leader of the United Civil Party has not been returned his passport yet, though a criminal case against him was closed.

We remind that he had to give his ID to investigators after the release on his own recognizance in April.

As can be concluded from answers of the investigation department, Anatol Lyabedzka's passport was attached to the materials of the criminal case, udf.by reports.

The head of the United Civil Party received the original of the ruling on closing his criminal case through his lawyer, but investigators still refuse to return the seized belongings.

“I have a ruling on closing the case. It says 'the case is closed as no evidence of guilty was obtained'. I talked to a KGB investigator, but I have not received my passport and other belonging seized during the search.

The right hand does one thing, but the left hand does another thing. It's a typical desynchronization of the actions of the authorities. When Lukashenka makes loud statements on round table talks and prospects for negotiations, it sound to me like a set of populist messages in the days when the IMF considers the country's application for a loan. But the Belarusian authorities have not changed a bit, the fact that can be illustrated with the situation with my ID,” the UCP leader said.

Anatol Lyabedzka thinks that investigators do not return his passport to prevent his political activity – the leader of one of the largest Belarusian opposition parties has had no opportunities to go abroad for the sixth month.
