Myasnikovich hopes for IMF loan

Belarus continues talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on granting a new loan.

BelTA news agency learnt this from the Belarusian Prime Minister, Mikhail Myasnikovich.

“We continue working. We suppose we have all groundd [to receive the loan]. We fulfill our obligations. In this regard, we can count on the credit programme if the issue is not politicized by the other party,” Mikhail Myasnikovich said.

Answering a question if Belarus can survive without an IMF loan, the PM stressed that the loan was “not critical”.

According to Mikhail Myasnikovich, Belarus can solve its economic problems without a new loan from the IMF. “This is an international organization and our country is full member of the IMF. Issuing a loan is important, but the IMF programme with the country is a sign to the international community that our economy is on the rise and develops in accordance with the generally accepted norms,” the PM said.

“Talks go on. Belarus does not plan to stop participating in the new IMF programme,” the Prime Minister added.
